Throughout the game you can either pause it (by pressing START) for menu options or you can go into your journal (by pressing BACK). Once you are in the journal, you can enter the cheat codes. The screen will flash when you have successfully entered the code. The directions are done on the D-pad:

Left, X, X, X, Y, Y, Y	Big Weapon Mode
Left, Right, Right, Left, Left, Right, Right, Left, Y, Y	Infinite Spell Soul Energy
Black, Left, Right, Left, Left, Right, Left, Black	Big Demon Heads
White, Left, Black, Left, Y, X, Y, X	Rapid Fire Shotgun
Right, Left, X, Y, X,Y, Left, Right	Explosive Holy Bombs
Y, Y, Y, Left, Right, Right, Left, Left, Right	Shoot Large Fireballs
